I have always had a fascination with the concept of vanishing points and optical perspective in the history of art.

My works essentially deal with space and the use perspective as a prop, or, at least, perspective yields the tangible objects that provide support for my pieces. Through creating processes that alter our field of vision or understanding, I override perspective conventions in order to break with the “normality” in front of us — that which seems obvious at first glance. Challenging perspective allows me to ask questions on many different levels about our own perceptions and the very possibility of existence.

My work wants to simulate an immaterial space in 3D through the use of light on the walls of a room, space or architectural structure.

Using various devices, geometric structures are projected into different architectural sites with the aim of simulating immaterial three-dimensional spaces. Depending on the project, the resulting immaterial space can provide a virtual extension or a means of perturbing the existing space.

As well as using the same techniques (anamorphosis, vanishing points) for my projects, I also deal with the same subjects, namely the perception of space and our ability to see, watch and analyse our environment. My project Echolyse looks to dematerialise space through creating an illusion known as anamorphosis. The process of projecting onto a surface that isn’t flat, but which gives the appearance of being, is very important in my work.

我一直對藝術史上的消失點和光學視角的概念極端著迷。

我的作品主要是去處理空間,以使用觀視角度作為道具,或至少以透視產生有形之物作為支撐。通過創作過程去改變我們的視野或理解,我會騎刧傳統的透視慣例藉以打破「常態」- 乍看之下似乎很明顯。富有挑戰性的觀點容讓我對有關存在的可能性以及人們的感知的多個層面上提出疑問。

我的作品想要通過在房間、空間或建築結構中運用光線去模擬三維中的非物質空間。

旨於模擬三維中的非物質空間,透過使用不同的設備,幾何圖形便能投射於不同的建築現場當中。根據不同的項目,作品所產生的非物質空間可作為虛擬擴展或擾亂現有空間的手段。

除了在我的項目中運用類同的技術(變形、消失點)之外,我還會處理相同的主題 —— 對於空間的感知以及我們能見、能看、能分析環境的能。我的項目Ecoholyse 希望通過創造一種稱為變態的幻覺以消除空間的非物質化。投映的過程不單單只是投射在平面上,而是能夠呈現生存/存在,是我作品中很重要的一環。

Born in 1972 and currently based in Paris, Olivier Ratsi began exploring visual arts within the context of electronic music in the late 1990s. During this time, he mixed both still and animated images for electronic music festivals under the pseudonym Emovie, rubbing elbows with personalities such as Jeff Mills, Scan X, Ellen Allien, Sven Väth, etc. In an environment where sound, light and space telescope into one another.

In 2006-2007, Ratsi founded the visual label Antivj along with Joanie Lemercier, Yannick Jacquet, Romain Tardy, who would later be joined by Nicolas Boritch as producer. Together they question VJing and image mixing, while creating genuinely audio-visual performances, installations and projection mapping on buildings and outdoor stages, sculpting light according to "geometric concepts"…

Now working as a solo artist, he has had solo and group exhibitions around the world, including at Denise René Gallery and Charlot Gallery, Paris, FR; Atsuko gallery, Tokyo, JP; Puerta Roja, Hong Kong, HK; and Wood Street Galleries, Pittsburgh, US. His works have been exhibited in museums including OCT Museum, Shanghai, CN; K11 Art Village, Wuhan, CN; D-Museum, Seoul, KR; and the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Taichung,TW. His works have been presented at numerous festivals and events including Elektra, Mutek and International Digital Arts Biennial, Montreal, CA; Biennale Némo, Mirage and Bains Numériques, FR.

生於1972年,現居巴黎。奧利維耶自九十年代尾開始在電子音樂的領域中探究視覺藝術,其時他在電子音樂節中化名Emovie,以結合靜止和動態的圖像演出,與Jeff Mills、Scan X、Ellen Allien、Sven Väth等人在光、影、空間合一的現場進行切磋。

在2006至2007年之間,奧利維耶與Joanie Lemercier、Yannick Jacquet、Romain Tardy共同建立了Antivj這個視覺品牌,後來Nicolas Boritch加入成為團隊的製作人。他們一起質疑VJing (視覺騎士演出)以及圖像的混合剪接,共同創作真實的視聽演出、在建築物及大型戶外舞台製作光雕投映,根據幾何概念去雕塑光影 ……

現為獨立藝術家,曾在世界各地舉辦過個展以及參與過群展,包括巴黎的Denise Renél畫廊以及 Charlot 畫廊、東京的Atsuko 畫廊、香港的Puerta Roja以及匹茲堡的 Wood Street 畫廊。他的作品亦曾於多個美術館展出,包括上海OCT當代藝術中心、武漢的K11藝術村、首爾的D-美術館、台中的國立美術館等。他的作品亦曾多次參與國際藝術節及項目,包括蒙特婁的Elektra、蒙特利爾的國際數位藝術雙年展、巴黎Némo雙年展以及Mirage and Bains Numériques等。
